    Welcome to Rivera Ms. AhSue!

    Ms. AhSue will be teaching Kinder during the 2014-2015 school-year. She has been teaching for the Riverside Unified School District for the past 10 years. She has taught kindergarten for 8 of those 10 years and First Grade for two years. Ms. AhSue has a Bachelors Degree in child development and a Masters in teaching. She loves working with children and have done so for the past 29 years. She is excited to be a member of the Thomas Rivera team and has quickly grown to love the school, teachers, parents and especially the students.

    Mrs. Kurkowski will be teaching 2nd grade during the 2014-2015 school year. She graduated from the University of California, Riverside. She has been teaching in Riverside 12 years in grades 1-6. She has special training and certifications in GATE, GLAD, and OG. She is very excited to be here at Rivera!

    Welcome Tasha Runyan!

    Tasha Runyan, our new Read 180 teacher, earned a Bachelor's Degree in communication and single subject CLEAR credential in English from California State University of San Bernardino, and a Master’s Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Language from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia. She graduated from Arlington High School. In R.U.S.D she has taught language arts at Chemawa Middle School for the past seven years, including Read 180 and language arts intervention classes. She previously taught English to high school students in Bloomington and adult English learners in Jurupa and Riverside for a number of years. Before she began working in education, she was a local newspaper reporter, and so she is writing children's books in her free time. She looks forward to providing the Read 180 program and other language arts interventions for students at Rivera Elementary School.

    Welcome Diana Navarro- Campus Supervisor

    Mrs. Navarro will be serving Rivera Elementary as a full time safety/campus supervisor. Her main role is to assist in keeping the campus safe while maintaining constant visibility. She will also assist in establishing and continuing a positive school environment. Her role will also include teaching proper school/playground expectations to our students. We welcome Mrs. Navarro to Rivera! On a personal note, Mrs. Navarro loves life and smiles! She is a firm believer in respect and she prides herself in giving respect to all!
