State Testing
Please remember that from Monday, May 2nd - Friday, May 13th  students will be taking the Math state tests covering our California standards. All students in the state in grades 3 - 11 are expected to take these important exams. These exams require the use of a Chromebook and earbuds. STUDENTS MUST BRING A FULLY CHARGED CHROMEBOOK TO SCHOOL EVERYDAY! Also, if possible, students should have a set of personal earbuds with them daily. Thank you!

The 7s Have Arrived at FAMMS!

Counting by 7s

FAMMS students were surprised with a gift, a copy of a book called Counting by 7s by Holly Goldberg Sloan as a part of our One School, One Book program. Every student received a book and it will not be collected at the end of the school year.  All Macaws are being encouraged to read the book –students and staff members alike. We have some fun activities planned (including a visit from the author) and we are very excited about the program. We hope everyone will participate!

UCR Expanding Horizons
UCR will be offering a number of summer programs for students this year. For students in grades 3-8, UCR has created the Expanding Horizons program that exposes students to creative and challenging material in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). For High School students, there is the 2016 Summer Academy, where college-level courses are offered through the UCR Summer Session and FastStart, an intensive five-week program for incoming UCR freshman from disadvantaged backgrounds who aspire to medical and other science based careers. Finally there is UCR ARTSblock for teens age 15-19, where students learn to create video documentaries. For more information please see this link

  • RUSD Middle School Track Meet

    Please join us for the RUSD Middle School Track Meet on Saturday, May 14, 2015 at Ramona High School. Gates open at 7:30 AM and the meet begins at 8:00 AM. Come out and cheer for the Miller Macaws!

  • 8th Grade Awards Night

    8th Grade Awards Night is Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 6:00 PM in the FAMMS Gym. Invitations were mailed home to the parents of students receiving an award and a phone dialer reminder will go out as well. We hope to see you there!

  • 8th Grade Promotion Dance

    The 8th Grade Promotion Dance is on Thursday, June 2, 2016 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Only promoting FAMMS students may attend the dance. This is a semi-formal event for students and all attire must follow the FAMMS Dress Code. Students must turn in a signed parent permission slip in order to attend the dance. Students may not leave the dance early. Refreshments will be provided, no money is necessary. Any student who is not picked up by 8:15 PM will not be permitted to attend the next school event. Students must be in attendance for the entire school day on June 2 in order to attend the dance. Please see the Dance Permission Slip for guidelines on appropriate attire. Thank you for your cooperation. We look forward to a fun filled event for the students!

  • 8th Grade Trip

    The 8th Grade Picnic is on Friday, June 3, 2016 from 7:45 AM - 1:45 PM at Shamel Park. All students must have a signed parent permission slip, signed waiver, and signed consent form completed on both sides to attend the trip. All students attending the trip must ride the field trip bus to and from the park. Students who are not promoting may not attend the trip and are expected to attend school as usual on June 3rd. There will be swimming, games, and lunch as well as other activities at the park for students to participate in. Appropriate swimming suits should be worn. Students should bring a towel and sunscreen or other sun protection. Lunch and snacks will be provided by PTSA. Thank you for your support. We look forward to a fun filled trip for the students!

  • 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony

    The 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 8:30 AM on the FAMMS field. We look forward to celebrating the accomplishments of our students! To make this ceremony one of our best, please observe the following: Promoting 8th grade students should dress appropriately for a dignified ceremony. Students should not rent tuxedoes or buy prom dresses for this event. Students should NOT wear short pants, halter tops, strapless dresses, or any other clothing that is overtly revealing. Students inappropriately dressed may be removed from the ceremony. If students arrive to the ceremony with inappropriate attire, every attempt will be made to contact parents to bring appropriate clothing so that students will be able to participate. At the promotion ceremony please do NOT bring balloons as they block the view of others. We appreciate your cooperation with the Promotion Ceremony and hope that this year’s event is a special one for each child and their family! For parents of current 7th grade students, please remember that 7th graders must not be at school on June 9th. The last day of school for 7th grade students is June 8th. The 8th Grade Promotion is exclusive to 8th grade students and their families. Seventh graders will have their exclusive turn next year. Thank you!

  • PTSA Chromebook Cases on Sale

    Does your child need a case for their Chromebook? We have a handful of black cases left! Cases may be purchased in room 814, before school, after school, or during 7th period. These cases protect the Chromebook from damage and come with a 2-year warranty. They are $30 cash or check made payable to FAMMS PTSA.

  • School Spirit Days

    Don’t forget that every Wednesday is a Spirit Day at Frank Augustus Miller Middle School. With our focus on exposing ALL students to College and their academic life/plans after High School, we have made Wednesday a day where the students can wear their favorite College Team/University Wear. Every Friday is our school spirit day, please wear our school colors of turquoise and yellow. PLEASE support the Spirit at Frank Augustus Miller!

  • Wednesday Planning Days

    Please be aware that beginning with the 2014/15 school year, every WEDNESDAY will be an early release day for students, school dismisses at 12:05 PM. School busses run accordingly on Wednesday's. The early release day allows for teacher/school planning time. Please mark your calendars accordingly and make any necessary transportation or after-school care arrangements.   • Box Tops for Education

    Frank Augustus Miller Middle School PTSA is collecting Box Tops for Education. This is a great way to earn money for FAMMS, just by collecting General Mills Box Tops. Here are some examples of the various vendors who offer Box Tops. Each 7th period class has a wrapped box to put box tops in. Thank you for your participation and bring in those box tops!

  • What is Haiku?

    RUSD uses Haiku, an online learning management system, that allows parents to stay in communication with teachers regarding classroom assignments and policies. All teachers at FAMMS have a Haiku web-page. Content on pages will vary by teacher or department. In general, parents will have access to: the course syllabus, grading practices, biographical teacher information, contact information, classwork and homework assignments, teacher created notes and handouts that often may be downloaded to view or print, helpful course-related links and class calendars. Please click on the Parents tab above for information on creating a parent Haiku account.

  • What is the Aeries Portal?

    The Aeries Portal allows parents and students to monitor grades, missing assignments, and late work in “real time” from any internet connected device. Aeries should be checked daily to monitor student progress. Please see directions to the left to create an account. Please contact the main office for the verification code required for account creation.
