RUSD is very sad to report that Arlington High School football player Tyler Lewellen, 16, passed away Tuesday night. Tyler had been hospitalized since last Thursday when he collapsed on the field following a scrimmage held at Rubidoux High School. The RUSD Crisis Response Team, which includes our team of school psychologists, is at the Arlington campus today and met with Tyler’s friends, teammates and teachers to help them to make some sense of this horrible tragedy. RUSD also is reaching out to Tyler’s family. This is a deep loss for our Arlington and RUSD families and we appreciate the community’s support at this time.“Tyler was a wonderful young man with a bright future ahead of him and everything to look forward to,” stated Arlington Principal Antonio Garcia. “We are so saddened that he was suddenly taken from us. Arlington appreciates our community’s support as we grieve the loss of one of our own.”
