Who is Eligible and When Does it Begin?
Coverage for newly-eligible employees and their eligible dependents begins the first day of the month following an employee’s start date and/or a scheduled work week of at least 20 hours (Classified) 16 hours (Certificated) per week. The district will continue to offer some or all of the benefits to certain employees who retire from active service. For Retirees under the age of 65, benefits may be offered under the terms of a negotiated collective bargaining agreement, or other agreement approved by the Board of Education.
Eligible dependents include dependents as a result of a marriage, birth, adoption, or placement for adoption.
Newly hired RUSD employees have 30 days from their employment start date to enroll in benefits. Current employees who are not enrolled and wish to join the plan or make changes to existing plans, add or drop dependents can do so during the annual open enrollment period in the Fall. You cannot make changes to your existing health plans outside of the open enrollment period, unless you have a qualified change in status.

Once you have made your elections, contact your assigned Employee Benefits Assistant or the Benefits Department to schedule an appointment to enroll.
