Welcome to John W. North High School- Home of the “Huskies”.

J.W. North opened its doors in 1965 and since that time has produced a distinguished record of excellence in the areas of academics, athletics, visual and performing arts, and valuing the diversity of our community members. These strengths have built a solid foundation that assists us as we work to prepare students for success in the 21st century. It is essential that students exit J.W. North with the ability to think critically and analyze situations, as well as, possess the necessary technical skills that will help prepare them for both college and career.

The school has many customized learning experiences to help enhance the education of our students.  We proudly offer the International Baccalaureate (I.B.) Diploma Program, Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), Education and Human Services Academy, Global Business and Information Technology Academy (GBIT), and Law Enforcement and Protective Services Academy (LAPS). We are also very excited to be adding the International Baccalaureate-Middle Years Program (IB-MYP) in the 2013-14 school year. All of these options help students develop academically while catering to their specific interests or needs to help them turn their “potential” into reality. This focus on meeting the needs of students has led to one of the highest completion rates in Riverside County for students meeting the UC/CSU entrance requirements.

In addition to the academic programs provided to our students, J.W. North realizes the value of having students involved in extra-curricular activities. We offer over 50 clubs on campus that cater to students individual interests. Our award-winning newspaper, The North Star, is not only a source of pride on campus, but also receives requests from local businesses to be on our mailing list. The Blue Star Regiment is recognized for its outstanding field performances and is the backbone to the great school spirit we have at the school. For those students interested in athletics, we have a long history of athletic success, winning over 20 CIF championships in different sports, producing many student-athletes that compete at the college level and beyond. Our most recent CIF Championship belongs to Husky Baseball, which won the Division 1 title in 2011.

July, 2012 will see the start of major upgrades to the athletic facilities at the school. The construction of a new 3,400 seat stadium containing an all- weather playing surface and running track will be built, an aquatic center with a 30 meter pool, competition level tennis courts, and lighting upgrades throughout will be a source of pride for our students, staff, and community.

The staff at John W. North High School take great pride in helping young people strive to reach their full potential. As a school, we seek to challenge students to stretch themselves academically, while providing support structures to ensure their success. It is our goal for all students to set challenging, yet attainable goals for themselves, develop perseverance to work through academic challenges, and experience the self-confidence and success from doing so. We look forward to great year!
