RICK MILLER, Ph.D.

Dr. Rick Miller joined Riverside Unified School District as Superintendent in January of 2009. Dr. Miller has been an educator for over 40 years.  He has served as a school district superintendent for the past 22 years in two different states, as well as serving as an adjunct instructor at the university level in both states.  Dr. Miller has taught at the elementary and secondary levels and has been an elementary and high school principal.

The focus of his 35+ year career as a school administrator has been on school reform and improved student achievement in diverse settings.  He has also co-founded a collaborative assistance program for teachers and administrators and concentrated his organizational efforts on building more collaborative structures within our school organizations.  Additionally, Rick was a co-founder of the Mountain West Superintendents Roundtable, a regional superintendent think tank.   

 He currently serves on a number of state and national advisory boards including:  K-12 Blackboard Advisory, California K-12 High Speed Network, California School Boards Association – Legal Alliance Advisory, and SmartRiverside Advisory.

Dr. Miller holds four academic degrees including a Ph.D. in Education; Ed.Sp. (Education Specialist) in Educational Administration; M.Ed. (Masters in Education) in Educational Administration and Higher Education; and a B.A. in Chemistry.

Dr. Miller has authored a number of professional articles and has presented at state and national conferences. Dr. Miller is Riverside Unified School District’s tenth Superintendent since 1871.
