Congratulations and Welcome to Riverside Unified School District! We are excited to welcome you to our district and look forward to meeting with you to review your health benefit options. It is very important that you adhere to the strict enrollment Benefits Deadline outlined below and contact us immediately to schedule your Benefits Orientation.
YOUR BENEFITS ARE NOT AUTOMATIC! In order to enroll in any RUSD health, dental or supplemental insurance program as a new employee, you must 1) Attend a Benefits Orientation 2) And complete your on-line enrollment with AFEnroll within 30 days from your start date. If you miss this 30 day deadline to enroll, you must wait until the next annual Open Enrollment Period, normally held in November for a January 1st effective date.
The following information is to assist you in understanding the health benefits offered to you as an employee of RUSD. Outlined below are specific and limited times when you are authorized to enroll or add your
eligible dependents to your health and/or dental plans:
30 calendar days of the date you are hired and are eligible for benefits.
30 calendar days of a marriage, birth, adoption, or court-awarded legal
guardianship, or filing of registered domestic partnership.
30 calendar day of the loss of other coverage at any time during the year.
(proof of the insurance loss will be required, such as a letter from a spouse’s
employer verifying termination of coverage)
each year at open enrollment
30 calendar days of a change in your FTE (change of hours)
REQUIRED: You must provide a copy of your State Certified marriage
certificate to add your spouse, State Certified birth certificate to add any eligible dependent
children, signed court adoption/legal guardianship documents for adoption or
legal guardianship dependents and proof of domestic partnership documents to
add domestic partner. You will also
need to provide social security numbers for any dependents you enroll under
your medical/dental plan.
Benefit Enrollment is a 2 step process. First, you are required to attend a Benefits Orientation, even if you intend to waive coverage. Second, you are required to meet with a representative for a one-on-one appointment to enroll in your health and welfare benefit plans.
To begin the Benefit Enrollment process, you MUST contact your Employee Benefits Assistant to schedule a Benefit Orientation (typically held every Wednesday around the 3pm hour. Dates and times subject to change).
