Miller Middle School Special Consideration Application

Instructions for Transportation for Victoria Grove Area Only

2017-2018

 

Pursuant to Board Policy, the Riverside Unified School District (RUSD) provides parent-paid fee-based transportation to regular middle school students who live ten (10) miles or greater from their middle school.  Because only a few students qualify for this pupil transportation service, there are open seats on the bus that serves the Victoria Grove area.  RUSD will make any open seats available to Miller Middle School students that live in the Victoria Grove area based on an approved special consideration application.

The Special Consideration process is governed by a Special Consideration Application that must be filled out and returned to RUSD Transportation, no later than July 12th, 2017.  Special Consideration Applications will be processed and approved based on the following criteria (listed in order):

1.      Projected space available on the regular transit bus that serves Miller Middle School and the Victoria Grove area.

2.      Special Consideration Applications will be approved based on mileage from Miller Middle School to the student’s address as determined based on the shortest distance using available streets for bus transportation as shown on MapQuest.  Student addresses are measured using the mid-range address for each individual street.  Priority order is established based on the greatest mileage distance.

3.      If a tie breaker is needed between two or more students, then the date/time stamp based on when the Special Consideration Application is received in Transportation.

Special Consideration Application Forms will be accepted at the RUSD Transportation Office beginning June 29th, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. and RUSD will continue to accept applications through July 12th, 2017 until 2:30 p.m.    The forms are also available from the Transportation Department, and may be downloaded from the RUSD web page at www.rusdlink.org

 

Completed Special Consideration Application forms must be returned to the Transportation Department – in person, by mail (address above), via fax (number above), or via email (mnelson@rusd.k12.ca.us).  Applications will not be accepted before 8:30 am June 29th, 2017 or after 2:30 pm July 12th   2017.

 

Those approved for Special Consideration will be notified by July 22nd (via the mail).  Bus passes will be available for purchase by those approved on August 15th through August 22nd, 2017, at the Transportation Office 9:30 am to 3:30 pm, cash, check or money order made payable to RUSD Transportation.  We’re sorry no credit or debit cards are accepted.
