Franklin Elementary School first opened in the fall of 1990 at the California School for the Deaf in Riverside.The current site opened in 1992, and stands on what was once fields of orange groves, hence the namDistinguished School: 1993, 2002, 2006, 2009 e of the community, Orangecrest.  Franklin was the first school in Riverside Unified School District to be built in the Orangecrest area.  A small orange grove stands at the entrance to our school to commemorate our citrus heritage.

In the spirit of Benjamin Franklin, one of our Founding Fathers, we are known as the Franklin Flyers, symbolized by a kite. Our school colors are red, white and blue, and our motto is “Soaring to New Heights.”  Franklin has been named a California Distinguished School in 1993, 2002, 2006 and 2010.
