Life Long Reading
 Chemawa READ 180 Program:
Chemawa has five teachers in the READ 180 program: Mrs. Runyan, Mrs. Booth, Mrs. Burns, Ms. Farris and Mrs. Rodgers.  The READ 180 classes are 2 period blocks of over 100 minutes per day that include the student's elective period.  All students in the program have tested two years or more below grade level in reading.  Students regularly alternate within three groups doing small group instruction, whole group instruction, independent reading/writing, and computer diagnostic/learning time.

*Students are regularly assessed as to reading growth in READ 180 as the year progresses.  Students achieving grade level proficiency in reading are moved out into Strategic Language Arts support or a regular elective.
